Unless you have a use case that requires fast charging (faster than 1/3 of the capacity of the battery installation) or you foresee adding batteries to the installation in 2 years time, you will not have to use lithium batteries. Lithium batteries do have longer life cycles, but you can replace the lead acid deep cycle AGM batteries at 2600 cycles (every 7 years) at a fraction of the cost. But this is only if there is load shedding every day for 7 years!
UPS systems incorporate inverters in the electronic package and inverters incorporate battery chargers and automatic change overs in the electronic package . Its mainly a terminology thing. The UPS does your automatic change over and charges your batteries, and the inverter converts your 12v or 24v or 48v DC to 220V AC to feed to your home.
The short answer is yes because it prolongs the life of your battery. Different batteries can handle different charges and discharge cycles and depth of discharge.
Probably smaller than you think but we need to assess the installation site for efficiency and to understand your energy needs. What energy consuming devices do you consider essential? For some, its lights or internet and TVs, for others it includes geysers and aircons. These needs will determine your sizing requirements. Doing further planning as your family or business expands is crucial and needs to be incorporated in all aspects of your installation.
